Last Saturday, 140 BIG Sing choir members showed up with open hearts, willing voices and a readiness to be challenged — and WOW, did they rise to it. We were honoured to be led by the incredible Daniel Thomas for a powerful, jam-packed Masterclass that pushed us, stretched us, and inspired us on every level.
From the very first note, Daniel reminded us that great singing is never accidental. Through focused, hands-on teaching, he guided us through the foundations of strong vocal technique — breathing, articulation, phrasing, singing from the diaphragm, and why warming up properly is not optional, but essential. Every exercise had purpose. Every challenge had intention.
And yes… he absolutely put us through our paces 😅 — but in the very best way. Daniel challenged us to step out of our comfort zones, to think more deeply about how we sing, why we sing, and how small technical shifts can make a huge difference to our sound, stamina and confidence as choir singers.
One of the most powerful moments of the afternoon came as Daniel spoke honestly about imposter syndrome — something so many singers quietly wrestle with. His encouragement reminded us that growth comes when we silence fear, trust the process, and give ourselves permission to learn. It was empowering, affirming, and deeply motivating.
By the end of the session, there was a real shift in the room. Choir members left not just inspired, but equipped — thinking differently about their voices, their preparation, and their approach to rehearsals and performances. This wasn’t just a workshop… it was an investment in our growth.
A huge thank you to Daniel for sharing his wisdom, energy and excellence with us — and to every single choir member who showed up ready to learn. Experiences like this are what continue to raise the bar for The BIG Sing… and we can already hear the difference. 🎶
